February
The 2nd annual Bully Bowl was again a success at Fiero
Lanes, with everyone enjoying the bullies making an
appearance in the kissing booth. Valentine's Day was
spent bowling and eating with other bulldog lovers.
Brutus was both surrendered and adopted, Chevy and Koko
went to their new homes, and Duke and Pearl were welcomed.
We also joined Adopt a Pet.

January
January 16th was the rescue's official birthday, being
an entire year old! We were very grateful for all of
the birthday wished and donations from our supporters
and managed through a very busy month. Annabelle was
both surrendered and adopted, Ollie and Lucy found new
families, and Emma and Koko found their way to us.

2009
Review
Our first year saw us welcoming 17 bulldogs into rescue.
We registered our LLC, developed our website, and became
members of Petfinder and Facebook. We also attended
several events and held monthly fundraisers to support
our work. Thanks so much to all of our supporters for
enabling us to do this work for these deserving bullies!

December
We are very proud of our last fundraiser of the year
- a collection of the first 13 rescues in a calendar
for 2010. Having lost Tilly to her battle with cancer
over the summer, we made sure she was our cover girl
to remind us of why we do what we do for these amazing
little characters. Chase was adopted and Chevy, Harley,
and Lucy were welcomed.

November
Friends of our family run Daffin's, a chocolate factory
in PA, which includes a fundraising division. Who can
argue with getting to eat candy bars AND helping bulldog
rescue at the same time? With five flavors and chocolate
covered pretzels, we were able to sell over 1000 bars
and have continued the sale. Patty found a home and
Chase, Ollie, and Mylo came to us.

October
Quite possibly the best time we had this year was at
the 1st annual OctoBULLfest Bulldog Halloween Party
that we co-hosted with the Detroit Bulldog Rescue at
Best Friends Pet Care in Clinton Twp. We had 27 bullies
enjoy a costume contest, photos, treats, and a maze.
Click here to see more photos of
the event. We also welcomed Patty and joined Facebook.

September
We were very grateful to be invited to three rescue events
in the area. The Michigan Renaissance Festival, Motor City
Harley Davidson 2010 Rollout, and Whitmore Lake Harvest Festival
provided exposure to hundreds of pet lovers and many consequent
donations. Sampson found his new family at one of these events,
and Duke was adopted shortly after.

August
Three more garage sales were held in an attempt to beat the
return of cooler weather. Hurley was lucky enough to meet
his adoptive family at one of these sales, and Duke was welcomed
in. We were able to get privacy fence installed to provide
a safer play area for everyone as well. No more potty breaks
on leashes!

July
Continuing with the sale of various pet related and novelty
items, we put together a variety of $20 gift baskets that
included toys, collars, bowls, toys, and clothing to sell
on the website and at different avenues to the public. The
month proved to be a relatively quiet one, with no bullies
needing to be brought into the rescue and Bella being adopted.

June
With so many items left over from the garage sales, and still
more being donated even afterwards, we continued to sell individual
items on Craigsist and the website to bring in additional
revenue. We welcomed Petunia and Sampson in, and were able
to set up an adoption for Petunia only a week after her arrival.

May
With the weather finally starting to warm up, we were able
to hold three separate garage sales with items donated from
various supporters. From these, we were able to sell tons
of items, ranging from pet items and collectibles, to books
and movies, to toys and clothing. After receiving all of their
vet care, both George and Princess were adopted out.

April
The idea of personalizing t-shirts and statues with individual's
bulldogs led to the next project. We were able to sell sets
for a total of to several owners. Our big accomplishment for
the month was achieving our membership on Petfinder.com, where
we began to post all of our available rescues. We also welcomed
George and Princess.

March
This month was all about making the general public aware of
our efforts. We traveled to 15 different Pet Supplies Plus
locations to provide meet and greets with the rescues, where
the patrons generously donated to our cause. We were excited
to participate in the St. Patrick's Day parade in Royal Oak
and welcomed Hurley and our little deaf girl, Bella.

February
We definitely needed more support, especially after Louden's
costly arrival, so we began promoting monthly fundraisers
to get more people involved. Fiero Lanes in Auburn Hills was
gracious enough to open on a Sunday just for us bully lovers.
The first annual Bully Bowl brought in many bulldog lovers,
with Tilly's adoption paperwork also being finalized that
day.

January
After traveling to a UP shelter to pick up a bully, Tilly,
for friends, we learned she was terminally ill with cancer
and they would not be able to care for her. Having rescued
our girl Lola from a Kalamazoo shelter the year before, we
were becoming aware of the breed's plight and made the decision
to formally start a rescue. Bully for You, LLC was registered
on January 16th, 2009. Selling a large quantity of items from
my personal bulldog collection on Ebay and our website, we
were able to raise our starting cash. Shortly after, Liza
was welcomed in and we were well on our way.
